A Written Post From March 9th, 2018 - International Women's Day
It’s a day late, I mostly celebrated the day on my personal, but I’m deciding to post here as well for #internationalwomensday ! Here’s what I had to say:
Feminism is often unfortunately marginalized as a movement to bring women to be above and superior to men. True feminism is a movement to get women to the point to where both men and women are equal on this Earth. Some think this has already been achieved. Sure, this has been done in some places, but in a wide majority of countries, women are still not allowed to be educated, abused, unable to work in jobs they want or unable to work at all, and not paid nearly as equally as the opposite gender.
To all the women out there. You’re worth it. You’re capable. You’re powerful. You have a voice. You have strength. You can be who you want to be, whether you’re of color, gay, straight, bi, transgender... we’re all human. We’re all equal. And that’s what we fight for.
I admit I was afraid to call myself a feminist officially for a while because of the misinterpretation of the movement (some actually claim women should be above men, which is ridiculous imo). But now I’m proud to call myself a feminist through my love for world equality, brought to surface by people like Emma Watson or shows like Agent Carter. Let’s fight the good fight and make this world an equal and better place for all humans!
Thanks for reading!
Much love,
