A Written Post from October 24th, 2018 - Anxiety Talk
I went to bed super late last night and forgot to take my prescribed anxiety medication that helps me sleep (I get most anxious during mornings), and on top of that, I’m on my period so my hormones are all whack (that might be TMI, but I’m going for raw and real here). So I woke up early with MAJOR anxiety, already threw up bile and whatever was remaining in my stomach this early in the morning. I’m still on edge, and while I like having free days to relax, sometimes just hanging at home can be nerve wracking when anxious.
I’m not sure where this post is going, but I wanted to talk about how anxiety is unexpected and sometimes seems to have a schedule of its own. And it can be frustrating. I suppose I wanted to talk about this to provide words that might help others know they’re not alone. I occasionally make posts on mental health for this exact reason. But something to remember is that anxiety isn’t a living thing. It’s an obstacle some people struggle with more than others. And that’s okay, it’s common.
So on bad days, instead of laying in bed staring at the ceiling stuck in your mind, stand up. Instead of sitting by the toilet and throwing up because your stomach is in twists and knots, take a deep breath and stand outside and feel the fresh air for a bit. Instead of sitting and doing nothing to let your mind run at a million miles, turn on your favorite show (mine is Who) and focus on that. Write. Read. Play a game. Pet your cat or dog. Do your homework to help distract yourself, or do it later to take time to relax. You’ve got this. I’m with you. We’re all on your side and rooting for you.
Much Love,
